OK, I have searched and searched for information on winterizing my I/O. I have read the "adults only" section and there is TONS of great information in which I will hold near and dear to me in the near future. However, Im looking for info on what to do as far as the heat exchanger / closed cooling on my Merc 190 (470) I was told to hook a small hose to muffs, and gallon of AF and " just run it". That doesnt SOUND right, but this is my first motor like this. Any help you can provide I will be grateful. Thanks. Greg

There is a raw water drain plug on the heat exchanger, or you can simply pull one of the end caps.

The first thing to do is never ever listen to that person again!!!!;) Test your antifreeze to make sure it is about 50% (good to -34F), then pull the aft plug on the heat exchanger and let it drain ( I just pull the boat drain plug and the exchanger plug and drain it right on the ramp when I pull the boat for winter). When you get it home, make sure that the power steering cooler (if you have one) is drained (pull the hose if you have to). Once the water is out put the hose back on and the plug back in with a little NAPA aviation sealant, done. Pretty easy.:D
