HI
hope you can help me..my friend can no longer help me winterize this season so im going solo on the winterizing
have a 1990 20 foot inboard outboard sunbird cuddy....5 litre engine...

this is what i know to winterize,,drain plugs under engine so water goes out...take hoses off manifold so water goes out...put stabilizer in fuel....
is there more to do..also for the outboard part where the propeller is...does the outdrive have to be drained?

input would be very appreciated
live in ontario canada where it freezes..want to make sure i get this wright so theres no freezing on the block etc
thanks

Re: winterizing help

Be sure to add fuel stabilizer and run the engine BEFORE you start draining the engine. Simply treating the fuel that's in the tank does not treat the fuel that will sit in the fuel system during storage. If you elect to fog the engine, do that right after you treat the fuel. Spray fogging oil into the carb until the engine dies. Change the outdrive lub, disconnect or remove the batteries, drain the engine and put it to bed. Don't spray fogging oil into the air intake on a fuel injected engine. Sensors don't like to be oiled.

Re: winterizing help

If you're not going to pull the outdrive, it should be left in the down position and covered so snow/water doesn't settle in there and crack the casing (it's also easier on the bellows). If you don't have a manual you should pick one up, it will show where you have to drain the outdrive. Removing the wrong one or missing one can be a headache down the road.
