I would imagine that would be below freezing outside...(they call 6 hours below 32 degrees a "hard" freeze here...doesn't happen more than a few times a year, and everyone goes nuts covering up the plants in the yard with sheets, lol). I'm pretty sure that my garage never goes below freezing. :D

Re: Winterizing in Florida?

Winterizing is simply removing anything from your motor that might freeze. Most commonly water. Since water expands when it freezes it will crack exhaust manifolds, lower units, engine blocks. Even though you have no water - not supposed to - in your lower unit it is still a good practice to drain and refill with fresh oil before any winter layup. There just might be that chance some water worked its way in there, and the consequences are the same.
Some folks say that one overnight freeze won't do any damage but I wouldn't like to take that chance.
Here's a good checklist for you to read. http://www.boatsafe.com/nauticalknowhow/winteriz.htm

Thanks for that. My tongue was firmly in my cheek, however...:p

I still find some of the best fishing on the shallow flats around Christmas and New Years, so don't see me doing any of that kind of thing.

Looks as tho our Canadian buddies will be shutting things down pretty soon tho. :(

DO NOT leave it sitting with water in the engine if there's going to be a hard freeze. Drain the block. An overnight freeze in Tallahassee WILL crack an engine block ....... the voice of experience......
