Thanks to everyone who posted I now know what I should be doing to winterize my outboard?

But what should I do in the spring when I am ready to run again? Should I use some cleaners on the carbs? How about that extra oil in the cylinders?

Change the lower unit oil, make sure you have fresh gas oil mix, change the spark plugs, change the water pump if you hadn't done that last year, lube all fitting and steering cables, check all electrical connnections for corrosion and clean them. Make sure you have a freshly charged battery and make sure you attend to your trailer as well. Grease bearing, lube rollers check condition of winch and strap.

Go Steelers....

Don't you change the lower unit oil when you winterize so it want freeze and bust if it has some water in it.

keep the old spark plugs in after ten minutes all the fogging oil should be burned up (you will know when you see no more smoke) then install the new blugs, you should of also when winterizing ran the motor (ever moving part) with greese this includes takin out some screws dipping them in grease. hire a good mechanic and watch him do it.If he charges under 200 hes not doing everythng he should.

Fishthebay- "change the water pump"? Quit a job to do each spring. Why not check it first? They last for years if not run dry. :p
