Could someone set up a list of the things I will need to do to store a motor in the NE. I have a 2002 225 EFI 2 stroke. I used to winterize my old 150 '88 blk max. With all the electronic components in the EFI I would appreciate a list of things that need to be done. A "must be done" and an "I would also do this" list would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, John

Re: Winterizing

Check the lower unit for water, change if in doubt. Add a heavy dose of fuel stabilizer and run the engine about 10 minutes (on hose/in water) to make sure it gets into entire fuel system. Spray everything down with WD-40 or the likes. Make sure the batteries are fully charged, maybe use a battery tender.
Store with the engine down (out of water) so that you get good drainage on the prop area/lower end.

Re: Winterizing EFI

Anyone have further info. Do you pull the plugs and fog? How about fogging the air intake to remove carbon build up there? Thanks. John

PS Saumon's link doesn't work

Look in the FAQ under winterizing. There are two complete guides which I've found to be very helpful.

Fogging and removing carbon are two different things.

Another thing - sounds like you don't have an Owner's Manual for your engine? I have found it very worth while to get an OEM Owner's Manual (not shop manual) for my used engines. They have guidelines for all this sort of owner/maintenance stuff.

You can download an owners operation & maintenance manual from here:
http://www.brunswickmarineemea.eu/download/dosearch/@isnew/desc?mod=4&lang=EN&categories=OUTBOARD$2002$2-stroke$

If the link as posted gets broken, just go to www.brunswickmarineemea.eu and click the 'download center' tab.

No workshop manuals, but lots of owners manuals
