Re: Winterizing

Yes I do my own winterizing. In a very small nutshell I:
Change crankcase oil and filter
Change drive lube
Fog Engine
Treat Fuel & top off tank
Change Fuel Filter
Thoroughly drain block and outdrive, & push in RV antifreeze
Clean hull
Clean carpets
Clean Cover
Remove battery and put on battery tender
Remove prop and send to rebuilder (hopefully NOT this year!)

Re: Winterizing

Thanks. I must have over looked that sticky. Sorry.
My service shop charges $120 to winterize. Sounds like a good deal to me.

As for being too early, maybe, but I just wanted to know how diffcult it is being a new I/O boat owner.

Re: Winterizing

 Man o man I hope you don't jinks us with talking stuff like that already :D. Lake Erie surface temp out of Lorain has been in the 80's since July 1st and usually doesn't reach that until the end of August. I'm hoping to be boating through October maybe into November this year. I know our winters are not near as bad as yours but it still sucks to see our boat just sitting there all depressed. Seams your question has been answered above though. Good luck.

Re: Winterizing

LOL!!! I hope not, as well. I am hoping we can use our boat up until October here too. It's been in the shop for almost 5 weeks. Need to make up some time on the water.

In that case, you want to know what they do for that $120. It is not all of ziggy's list. They might be just adding fuel stabilizer, fogging engine, and draining water.

Re: Winterizing

+1 on the above.

Our local guys get $120 for an hour's labor. So do verify exactly what services they provide for that money.
