Winterizing

Ha ha I was wondering why no one had responded, I guess in all my haste I forgot to upload the picture! I saw my window of opportunity to finish winterizing the boat shrinking fast, so I took advantage of the long weekend to finish it up. Spent Friday R&Ring the spark plugs, 4-1/2 hours and a lot of swearing! Saturday got that cover off (by myself, and yes it is HEAVY), changed the oil in the lower unit and built the structure for the shrinkwrap, and finally got that done on Sunday. Started raining Sunday night through the day Monday, this morning had about 6 inches of snow with more on the way today. I just made my window!

And yes, 190 Horizon, the Firebird is a '67, future hot rod waiting to happen...

mine from the same end.
What engine's in the 'Bird? 326 or 400?
Years back there was a guy in my town who put a 'Bird front clip on the body of a Camaro we used to call it the Camarabird, with the Camaro tail lights being the give away...

Wow, just about identical to mine! The Firebird is a roller, it didn't have a motor or tranny in it when I bought it. Tags say it was originally a 326 car with a powerglide, going to put some sort of big block in it along with an M21...eventually

looks like you got it just in time. We haven't had a real winter in a long time (3 years) but I still put my winter cover on, I built a support system for it that takes about 1/2 hr to put up, and then I can work on it in the winter if we get warm days. I made that center ridge beam hinged over the rear seat so I can open up the engine hatch. In fact when I did my top end overhaul 3 years ago I pulled off the intake manifold and cyl heads in Feb because it got up to 65*.

PS the trans everyone wanted back in the old days was the M-22 Rock Crusher with its characteristic whine.

Wow that's a nice setup you got there! I bought a '69 Camaro when I was around 20, former race car, had an M22 in it. Car got totalled, I kept the trans and put it in my '57 Chevy when the trans blew in it, sold it with the car. They were noisy but they were pretty much bulletproof!

I don’t my mind dragging out the cover and supports because I’ve saved a bunch of money not shrink wrapping it over the years. I bought the cover back in 2007 and it’s still in good shape...
