I recently bought a 1972 Crestliner Stinger 14' with '72 Mercury 402E Outboard. I have a couple different posts in the restoration and control forums, as well. As far as this post goes, I'm rewiring the entire engine. All the wiring was dry rotted, and while it all seemed to work, I didn't feel comfortable going out on the water with wiring as frayed as this was.
I found the wiring diagram, and I had some wiring equipment in my basement, so I took care of the coils and ground wiring. I'm trying to find both the engine side and boat side wire harnesses where the main electrical cables plug into the side of the outboard. I have found both parts online, but they're very expensive. Does anybody have any ideas for an alternative that may be a little cheaper? Here is what I have found so far:
Engine Side Harness from CDI Electronics, Part no. 414-2770. https://www.amazon.com/CDI-Electronics-4142770-MERCURY-HARNESS/dp/B007I8WE60
Boat Side Harness also from CDI Electronics, Part no. 474-9550. https://www.amazon.com/CDI-Electron...HCFXKCBJB3H&psc=1&refRID=XASYKB3C7HCFXKCBJB3H
Thanks for your help!
