Wire Question

I have a 1984 75hp merc. outboard. I was changing the plugs in it yesterday and I noticed that their was a wire that was broken next to the top (#1) cylinder. The wire connects to a small piece of metal going into the block about 1 inch away from the spark plug. Does anyone know what this is for and if it will cause any major problems because the wire broke.

Re: Wire Question

That is for your water temperature switch in the head. Without it you won't know if your motor is over heating or not.
