Hello,
I am totally new to this forum so please bear with me. As you can see by my ID I have had real BAD luck with 2 used 4.3 engines( long story). Just bought a new in box 2009 4.3 vortech 4Bl. 225 H.P. My question is my orgional 4.3 has the mercuriser distrubitor- the new 4.3 has the Delco EST. How do I hook up the EST to the orgional mercuriser wiring harness? are there any wiring diagrams to explain this? I did not see this question on any past forum.

lastly my new 2009 comes with a 2 wire alternator- my orgional wiring harness is a 3 wire- any problems wiring this in? Thanks so much for anyones help- new engine coming 6/27. thanks again
still hope to make it to the lake for week of 7/13 with your assistance and knowledge.

Re: wiring delco EST to orgional thunderbolt 4 wiring harness

Is this an automotive engine you bought? If so, you need a marine distributor, alternator, starter, and fuel system. Not automotive.
Will probably mean a wiring harness too.
What you should have bought is a long block for a truck, and put all the marine accessories on it.

PS: That is just the safety stuff. Next is the things to make it last. Like brass core plugs, marine circulation pumps. Then there is the electric fuel pump oil pressure switches, manifolds, cooling. Have fun.

Then why not just put the Thunderbolt ignition system and the rest of your Merc accessories and keep it original as possible. makes troubleshooting in a few years a lot easier.

The seller said I could do that as well keep the thunderbolt disturbitor and ign. module, but I thought I had read here somewhere that the delco EST was a more reliable system than the thunderbolt 4
as for the 2 wire marine alternator that comes with this, will it work, and hook up OK sine my harness is a 3 wire? mine alt. bit the dust lalong with the block, flywheel ring and more.
Thanks
