Anybody know where I can get a complete wiring diagram for a 1996 Evinrude 88 SPL? Can't get the voltage needed to charge the battery.

Try the maxrules web site. They have lots of motor wiring diagrams.

BTW - You probably do need exactly the same year or HP of your motor. Just the family. i.e. about the same year, in your case looper or crossflow, 90* V or 60*V, the Special motors usually have the cheaper charging systems, like on the commercial motors, compared to the not special motors. Just match it up.....
