General question, but did boat manufactures publish parts or service manuals and/wiring diagrams for their boats? I know boats are built using a collection of parts manufactures bought from vendors and vendors like Mercruiser, Volvo, etc, had their own manuals.
But what about parts or vendor listings? Things like lights, louvers, gauges, steering and throttles, on and on.
And wiring would have been different with different oems and even models within an OEM, but someone at a dealer level would have been expected to diagnose and repair them. Was anything ever printed?
More specifically, I’m looking for all of this info for a 1984 Century Cardel.
Thanks

MerCruiser wiring diagrams will be available in service manuals. Boat wiring diagrams are not avail for particular boats, but a lot of OEMs follow standard wiring colors.

Gauges are only made by a few. maybe you can match something up.

Other than that, match up what else you need. A lot of OEMs use standard fittings.

i managed to find a full wiring diagram for my Maxum sr1800 online with some searching it turns out most of the Maxum boats share a common harness with a few extras for upper tear boats.

Mercruiser diagrams are common place on the internet a search will det you a diagram for most motor drive combinations.

While some Brunswick models have wiring and manual information. You wont find information for a 40 year old Century. I doubt Century ever had it

I’ve got the correct Mercruiser service manual and the engine harness is shown. I guess I’ll use that as a start for building my own full-boat wiring diagram.
Not much I can do for a full-boat parts manual.

As for individual parts, you can try get an identifying number or label from them and source them on the Internet. A few things will be specific to the boat brand/model, but many parts are generic.
