Currently in my boat there is a fresh water tank that feeds into an electric pump. I bought the boat used and never could figure out how to work it. Turns out the pump used to be wired to the ACC switch which has since been changed over to controlling the stereo. I would like to mount a toggle switch by the sink so that I can pressure the system. However, I am not an expert in wiring, but I?m assuming this is a pretty simple job. Can someone please tell me how connect the wires between the pump, toggle switch and terminal block? Thanks in advance.

You need to run a negative (ground) wire directly to the neg side of the pump. Then a pos 12 line to the switch and on the other side of the switch to the +12vdc on the pump. However pumps like that usually have a pressure operated switch so the pump will shut off when the faucet is shut off.

Thanks for the response. So with a pressure operated switch is that something that can get mounted next to the water pump in the engine compartment? If that is correct, when I turn my faucet on how does the switch know how to turn on the pump? Do I need to pressurize the system at the beginning of the season and then after that I am set? Thanks again.

Question A, yes, it can be located there, most are. Question B, you simply turn on the faucet at the beginning of the season, once the pressure switch gets to the point where the system is at operating pressure, it will shut the pump off...easy peasy.

If you are in an area where you experience freezing temps for multiple days, you'll to evacuate the system before winter, then add some non-toxic anti-freeze (the pink stuff) and circulate it throughout the system...
