Just got a call from my mechanic. He's got my new Indmar 4.3 motor in the boat, but is having an issue with the power harness. Maybe you all can explain what the heck he was speaking about. The boat is an 87 Sport Craft in show room condition. The old motor was a 4.3 OMC.
I guess the wiring harness that came with the new Indmar motor does not come close to working with the current components for where my old motor was sitting. Does this make any sense? I asked about using the new harness I had installed on my old motor last fall. My mechanic said it wouldn't work for various reasons to include having an electric water pump and the oil pressure engine shut down (i think) amongst other things that would need to be on the new harness. Some of the new motor mounted parts are different and need to be changed, so the shifting cable (by the carburetor) can be mounted correctly.
I'm going to get my mechanic and the Loren at Michigan Motorz together on Monday, but from what I have described what is needed? What wiring harness would be needed to be used to connect the new motor to the old on my boat. Am I making any sense? lol
I appreciate it guys. -Joe
