hi guys. i just got a force engine because my johnson died on my 96 seaswirl open bow 17.5 footer. the people who installed it just hooked up the power to the motor and new control box.I have a new ignition on the control box so the old ignition on the dash does nothing anymore! the problem is that key turned on the guages!now when i turn the key on the dash my fuel guage and voltage guage does nothing and the fuel guage on the tank under the floor is stuck at full. The marina left the wiring harnesses that plugged into the johnson motor just lying there and didnt hook any of the wires back up!my question is does anyone know what wire or wires i need to hook back up to get power to the guages and vhf and cd player? thanx alot

Re: wiring harness question

Normally the purple wire off of the keyswitch will be for accessory power. Your Johnson motor harness should also have purple wires going to the gauges. I recommend you splice the dashboard purple wire to the control box purple wire.

Also, some boats have accessory switches and also unused switches. You can run the fishfinder and radio off those. They have more current carrying capacity than your ignition switch.
