All I see is a need for a bit of learning and an application of skill. When you are done you will stand tall amongst the ranks of some of the best iboaters.

Now that is no tragedy!

I often dream of being able to restore something like that. Looks like a great learning expirience........and you have come to the best place for help.

I felt the same way, (and still do at times) but once its done, you'll feel great and proud. Just take your time, when you get fustrated, just step away for a while, and take a deep breath. (a shot or two of Jack Daniels doesn't hurt eirther LOL) You'll be fine. Nice boat by the way.

Restoring a boat is not difficult and is really a project comprised of a hundred or so 20 minute tasks.

I would try to start the engine. If it doesn't work and you need to repower, it is a lot easier to do when everything is open.

I'm only fustrated with the removal of the old glass and plywood. When I'm done with that and down to a bare hull, I'm sure I will love the rest. All this fiberglass dust is MISERABLE.

I did try to start the engine when I picked it up and it turned over fine. I guess I do need to check the compresion, because the one thing I had no plans of doing was a ring job. But, maybe I should while I have the motor and outdrive off.

Keep it wet with a light water mist as much as possible while grinding. Position a shopvac hose with a milkjug hood to capture as much dust as you can. Work outside with window box fans keeping the general flow of air going away from you. Talk your nephew into doing it for twenty bucks.
Since it's been sitting on the trailer rotten for a number of years , make sure the hull is not bent out of shape. Make sure after you get everything out it doesn't get out of shape or twisted as you put it back together. Sam
