Re: Wisonsin Lakes

If you had a canoe maybe you could do it. But the bridge/locks over HWY 51 in McFarland prevents boat from getting into Lake Waubesa from Kegonsa.

Kegonsa campground is nice!

I'll be on Lake Mendota this weekend! Governor Nelson State park has very nice facilities!

How is Lake Kegonsa for skiing? Glad to hear that it is good for camping. Looking to head up from the Milwaukee area for a couple days of skiing and such. Probably go up with a few friends and use a pontoon boat as a central hub.

Right in downtown McFarland is a very nice campground where you can even moor you boat after launching. It is very protected from the weather. It is a county park, it has bathroom facilities, you can walk to food, gas, and restaurants. It does fill up quick, contact the Chamber of Commerce if interested.
The boat launch is just up the road over the dam, $8 fee, great launch and parking. That will be on Lake Waubesa, great fun and access to the other lakes.

Y'all are really making me miss Wisconsin. Grew up there for the first 35 years of life - the Dells, Lake Michigan, and lots of inland lakes. You really can't go wrong if you do your homework with regard to size of boat and activity - the Dairy State has plenty to offer for the few months it's nice enough to enjoy it!

BTW, Go Packers!
