hey everyone, just wondering what a 1978 20hp johnson is worth? Has good comp,very well takenn care of bought new in 78 runs purs like a kittentryin to sell.Just bought newer one.

2 or 3 hundred. Maybe a little more if it's cosmetically excellent.

Around here 9.9's are between 5 and 8 hundred all day long. I wouldn't let it go for less than a grand. It seems to matter what part of the country you are in. Also if it was a fresh or salt water engine.

Hi Cotester,<br /> If I had a similar motor, I'd try it in my local paper for around $650 and see if anyone bites. I don't think you could get anywhere close to $1000. My price would have to include a fuel tank and line, documented service of the waterpump within the past few months, and throw in a set of new plugs for good measure - basically in ready-to-go condition.<br />- Scott
