wondering year of a 115hp yam 2 stroke

Hi bought a 115 of a dealer and he told me it was a 04, , its serial no is
115 beto
6e5 L 370617.
Can any one tell me is this ok , thanks,,

Last letter of model number gives you the year. 2004=C

There should be a letter in the lower right corner of the lable that tells you the year its produced

There is only one identification plate sticker on it, the one on the other side is peeled off.

All of the letters for model codes are repeated in the year guide. It could be 1981 or 2002.

I havent any pics now , but its the flat top hood , with out the perspex type strip , and no vents, on the back, I know a 99 115 has these vents in the back and higher hood, and clear perspex strips. More confused now then ever , I was thinking 97 myself. Thanks anyway

Where are you, what country?

The model you have is classified as 'international'. The codes do not follow the same guidelines as North American models.

If there is an 'R' in the bottom corner of the plate, it is a 1981 or 2002 model.

The first 3 digits of the serial number also give a clue. In the examples that doubleweber has posted, 6H3 is indicative of a 1983> 70hp. 6K7 is indicative of a 1986> 225hp.

Your serial number (6E5) is indicative of a 1981> 115 hp although this may be repeated past 2004. I do not have any listings available for international models past 2004.

From the pics youve posted, and if the plate has the letter "R" in the bottom right corner, it would be a 2002 model.
