Re: wondering

It's a 22'+ Islander with the "urban jungle" appearance package. the head comes pre-graffiti'd too, with special fixtures that look broken.....:p

looks like great potential, but the exterior will run off 98+% of buyers....the few who aren't already run off by the idea of a 30+ yr old cabin cruiser. broken windshield alone would scare off most of em. fix windshield and leave paint, and you'll have a boat no one would ever steal, though.

i think $2K CD is waaay excessive given the parade of buyers he'll have....running the other direction. maybe if the motor and drivetrain are platinum plated and sing Italian opera it would be worth $2K. i'd offer him $1000 if floor and transom are OK, less if not.

Re: wondering

Offer to haul it away should be enough. Seen a boat like that at Bluffers Park marina $500 google the website.

Re: wondering

Looks like a Chieftain to me. Take a look at the 1976 Cruisers brochure. Based on the squareness of the rear of the cabin, maybe the 25 footer?

Re: wondering

WOW

I am betting that is a 24'/26' Chieftain. I am also betting that it would be an ENTIRE rebuild. Deck, transom, electrical, engine, outdrive, everything. So what your $2K buys is the aluminum hull (I don't see a trailer) that may or may not need a new paint job depending on your taste.:D

$500 MAX for me to haul it away and I LOVE that boat!

If there was a trailer, engine and outdrive that were all serviceable I'd go $1000 MAX, and again, I love that boat.

That is one big project! Super fun though!

$2000, no way.

Re: wondering

$2000? Hahahahaha.

Ya, that looks like a boat to you and I. What it really is, is an eyesore. The guy "selling" it is getting you to pay to remove it from his property.

Some suggest $500? I'm with the guy that says to offer to remove it from the guys property and not charge him for it.

On a side note: If you do "buy" it and fix her up, I'd leave that AWESOME paint job! SHE'S A BEAUTY!!!

Wish I could see it but the site the pics are hosted on is apparently considered a "malicious site" by our stupid filtering software here at work.

Nope, your filtering system is spot on. What I am seeing is definitely malicious!

Re: wondering

The site is mine and it's not malicious, it's just old and on a virtual server.

The guys says the engine is 165 I/O with 0 hrs on it. Rebuilt out drive with 0 hrs as well and no leaks.

$1000 eh? Hmmmm. Where to get a trailer? Will I need a dual axel for it?

Re: wondering

Well the 165 is a solid powerplant. Just remember, "rebuilt" ain't rebuilt without receipts.

25' ain't no "cuddy". That'd be a "Cruiser" for sure! I believe Starcraft would call it a Chieftain. Any chance you could stick a picture or two somewhere I can see it?

Re: wondering

Nice big rig...double axle trailer will be required for that thing for sure.

If that I/O is brand new then 2k isn't that far off if the deck and transom don't need to be replaced.

I like that boat, it would be great for touring the Great Lakes:D

Re: wondering

Bill, don't worry, there will be others. at least the 22' ones seem to be reasonably common. and you can always hire some graffiti artists from the local juvenile probation dept to do you a "memorable" paint job...or maybe some itinerant hippies in a luridly painted VW bus.....:D
