Hello, I have a pre alpha drive. I just reinstall the drive to the boat, but now I can't shift in park or reverse. It's stuck in forward position. Someone know what is going on?

The park lever is right next to the brake pedal. :ROFLMAO:

I assume the OP means 'neutral'

You should have this moved to the MerCruiser forum. Those guys are experts.

From my failing memory, when you install the drive, the shifter needs to fit into the yoke. The yoke needs to be parallel with the boats length. The outdrive has to be held in the correct gear to make that happen. I think they default to forward, under the pressure of the spring, so you have to turn the prop CW. The control also needs to be in the correct gear, maybe reverse? It is a guess, as it has been too long since I did it.

Right idea, wrong details
As Bondo said, control needs to be in fwd, shift shaft straight ahead and prop locked CCW. Also, if you split the drive then you could have screwed something up there as well when putting it back together.

No you don't, nobody does. There was never a model called 'pre-alpha'. You might have an MC1, or an R, or even an MR. Or it could be a TRS, TR, O, E, H.... Or an EZ-Shift.... Or any of the others I've forgotten....
