sorry just to clarify, when i say splits, i mean if its primary pickup at 20% and max spark another 40%, that means at approx. 60% throttle movement, im at max. spark and the rest is carbs only.

cheers

It really sounds like you are making progress in the right area. A full load sea test should confirm.
Best of luck and will be interested in the results.
Andy

OK, Major update***
I took it down to the water today, backed the trailer in and left the boat attached to the trailer.
Everything runs great, BUT.......
my max RPM at WOT is 3500-3600

Will this increase when the boat is moving? or have I still got work to do?

cheers

Not to beat a dead horse, but have you pulled the plugs?? Mine also had no problem with momentarily higher rev's in a tank at the shop.

Jerry

Pull your plugs and read the color. Dark brown to tan and wet with fuel you are OK. Clean or no color to gray is probably water drowning your spark. Just a thought. You need to trace the spark to the end of the plug after the engine runs under load.

I have checked the plug condition and all is good except one which is a little cleaner than the others. Not much just a bit. Cab you clarify 'You need to trace the spark to the end of the plug after the engine runs under load.'
Not sure what you mean there?

cheers
