I bought a used 1985 Alumaweld 18 Ft Boat. I spent two mounths tearing it down to a hull and painting, re-wiring the dash, on and on.

Turned out really cool by the way

I went out for my first drive yesterday. That 200 HP with a jet pump kicked some butt!

After about two miles I shut it off and ran the kicker motor. Went to re-start the 200HP and it sounded like dead batterys. Then after a few trys the starter did nothing. Dead, notta.

I had to come back to launch by kicker motor. The batterys were low but the kicker re-charged them. Still turn the key on the 200 Merc. and nothing. Dead.

I then found that I screwed up and place one of the ground wires from one battery to the ground side of the other battery. I know I AM A MORON!

What did I screw up? Does anyone live close to Sacramento California who wants to make a few bucks?

The motor is a 200HP Merc. serial number OB105553 model 1200726. Have not been able to find out what year that is. I would have better luck trying to hunt down my long lost Dad for child support then finding info about what year a outboard motor is. some kind of big secret Merc has.

Thanks for any help. I do get power to the thingy next to the Starter on one side when the key is on.
