first off i want to say how great this site is. i finally became a member today. my name is jason and i am new to this hobby. i recently purchased a 19'<br />1971 gulfstream with a merc 165 250 straight six. the guy i bought it from had the engine completely rebuilt and only put 150 hours on it. i bought the boat with trailer for $1000.00 dollars. i will try to put pics up soon once i figure out how. i thought it was a pretty good deal and so did my freinds. im currently getting the boat ready for summer. going to do some fishing and camping with it. i ripped off all the carpet today and the vinyl that was underneath the carpet and it looks like i will be replacing the wood flooring one of these days. its not that bad. the worst is the piece that is above the gas tank.<br />and certain areas the wood has come up. . i would like to lay some kind of covering on the floor to make it look nice for right now until i am ready to replace the floor, any suggestions? i would like to just go out and enjoy the boat for the next couple of years before i tear this wood out.<br />what do you use. thanks

Why not just go to your carpet dealer and get the color of youe choice of astro-turf? Cheap, looks good, and is easy to glue down. There will be other ideas besides this. All pretty good too.<br /><br />Welcome to the forums. Have fun with your boat!

and the glue will help seal up the old wood till you rip it out in the fall.

thanks for the ideas, i know that home depot sells the astro-turf maybe.i will get it from there and get some good adhesive. anyone have any suggestions on glue or aerosol adhesive? thanks

forgot to mention that i should sand the floor a bit in order to have the glue stick or adhesive.

I used some outdoor liquid nails to adhere my vinyl flooring down, it comes in a caulking tube so I spread it around with a notched trowel, stinks a bit, should clear up once it dries completely (I hope) <br /><br />I used that because I had tried the recomended adhesive and because there are some groves that the vinly had to go in the stuf wasnt tacky enough, so when I would walk away from it the vinyl would lift, the liquid nails held it right down for a nice tight fit.. I hope it stays that way..

Don't wait 2 more seasons. If it is rough now, you will most likely have some trouble underneath. If it's not too soft, go ahead and use it this summer, but I would definitely have a look under the deck as soon as boating season is over. <br /><br />Use the exterior carpet adhesive and a small v-notched trowel to put the adhesive down.
