I have a 73 Silverline that has plywood trim on the edges of the seats, front of engine cover, and other places, that is covered by a walnut grain contact paper. It seems to be some sort of "shrinkable" contact paper as it molds around the curves and edges of the wood. That contact paper is peeling off of the edges of the panels and is somewhat brittle being 40 years old. I have looked on-line but can't find any similar type of covering. All the contact paper is the standard peel and stick type and is not shrinkable.

Is there such a product?

Another option is to remove the wood pieces, peel off the old contact paper, sand the plywood, stain walnut, and brush on some spar varnish. It would be much easier re-cover with contact paper.

Re: Wood Grain Contact Paper

Ebay has a few vendors selling:

3M marine teak vinyl

On a roll, sold by the foot, or roll.

Use an exterior solvent based adhesive* in a well ventilated area, and you should get at least as long a service as the contact paper served.

*Or what the vinyl maker recommends.

The pieces I want to cover have rounded corners and the present covering has no seams and molds over the corners and radiuses which makes me think it is a shrinkwrap kind of product.

I have a early 80s Lund Tyee that had plywood covered with a woodgrain contact paper type product. I replaced the plywood and used a simulated oak contact paper and then covered with 3 - 4 coats of spar varnish. It is much better than the old worn plywood but still not quite right.

Maybe the 3M product would be better.
