My friend has this set up and he uses cheaper corrugated iron sheet ( we call it Zincalume , nice and shiny but pita coz you cant solder it to make custom fittings ) for the heat shield on the wall ....looks good too

i've had part of my poop chute already from cancer out so i am well aware.

yeah , part of my colon and a bit of jejunum , had a bag for a year ....motorbike crash . opp site keeps herniating .

I only used 45’s because the stove is centered in the room under the peak. The 45’s are together and spin on the band to any angle you want. I have no problem with cleaning. I use fiberglass rods that go through with ease.
And this even met code. But that was almost 30 years ago.

I dunno so much about log burners , but when I was running the show I had two gas fitters installing gas fires and one thing I learnt is that you cant take to much heat out of the flue otherwise the flow aint so good ....the exhaust being cooler . Im pretty sure the more heat lost out of the flue the more it will need cleaned ....I dunno how youd clean around 45 deg bends . You would just about have to dismantle it

the whips appear to be flexible enough to make the bend.

i could, just wanted minimal exterior pipe. Looks better imo and the double wall **** is pricey - plus would prob need support like guy wires - again, aesthetics.

If ya don't like the looks of a pipe thru the roof build a chimney box for the pipe to go through.
