Must say this one is a fair amount different then the other OMC's I have worked on.
I have the seloc manual for it. Went and pulled the serial number but I'm having trouble finding anything about it now.
C3244207 is the serial number on it.
Guessing early 70's.
It appears to be a Mercury Thuderbolt 500 50HP 3cyl.
From my first night of online looking, it seems the majority of the 50's were 4 cyl,
Anyone able to share some wisdom on this with me?
I have most of the parts for the lower end. will need to re-assemble it and I'm sure I will find a couple screws and gaskets missing. I already know they impeller key is missing. Could be a real bastard to find that I think.
The starter is seized also. I've found some replacements locally so i am not very concerned about that. What do you think my chances are of finding just the bottom cap for the starter? one of the brush mounts has broken up on an otherwise good shape starter.
Thanks in advance,
Steve
