Working out the bugs step 74...Force 85 running on two cylinders?

Got the prop mounted properly to my force 85 today (much thanks to JerryJerry and the iboaters), and took her out for a spin to see if I had recovered the power I have been missing in this boat. No dice.

My buddy tried unplugging the plug wires one by one when the motor was running and found that it still ran when he unplugged the middle plug wire. He says that this means it is running on two cylinders.

If this is the case, what is the next step to fixing it? Viking funeral?

Any help would be appreciated.

You should probably do a compression test before you give it
the old, "fire burial at sea" routine.
I just picked up a basic compression test tool for $10.00 at
Harbor Freight. I'm sure you'll find that guys like Jerry will say,
Compression 1st, then spark, then fuel.

Don't give up hope, you'll get to the bottom of it.

emoney says it all.Basics,compression/spark test. Then look at the fuel pump diaphram.#2 is the cylinder that operates the fuel pump.
Get a comp tester and spark testers.Anyone who owns a boat should have these or a lot of money to pay someone.
Fill out your profile you might be near someone who can help.J
