Hello, I am rebuilding a Bayliner and have gut the whole inside replaced the stringers bulkheads and deck. I am near the end of the project ( Hopefully ).
I have used poly resin and am very happy with how it has turned out. My little work shop is well ventilated and I wear a respirator, Gloves etc. . My problem is the neighbor nearest to the workshop complains about the smell stench of the resin and the danger to her family. Is there anything I can to keep the smell stench away from her so I can finish the deck before it gets cold or before she loses her mind. Maybe an Industrial fan an obscene amount of baking soda?
let me know if anyone has any Ideas.
Thanks

Sure. . . an industrial fan to blow the fumes towards a different neighbor . . . :D

Actually, if you cover the exposed resin areas . . . like the deck . . . with plastic drop cloth material . . . or maybe even the entire boat until the resin has cured, then the fumes will be less.

Maybe you can cover the deck with plastic right after your finish with the resin and cloth.

take $30 out of your wallet, send your neighbor out for burgers.

You gotta love neighbors....
I did a lot of grinding one day in my hull
And when i finished it was already dark so i took the leaf blower and blew the hull out
The next morning my neighbors cars were covered in white lol
Thankfully they never said anything

Years ago people would put Pine oil in the resin to mask the odor, it sort of helps.

Putting surface wax (the same thing used in gel coat) in the resin will seal in much of the odor, not all, but it helps.

To disperse fumes factories use a tall stack to send them above the surrounding people/buildings/homes so the wind can blow it away.

Or switch to epoxy, far less odor, just different types of health concerns.

Thank you for your info. I will work on that. Will the pine oil or surface wax dilute the Resin?
I would switch to epoxy but I have already paid for gallons of poly-resin. I do like the Idea of sending my neighbors out for burgers, but I don't think they will find that as funny as I do.LOL

You aren't adding enough of either one to make a difference.
