Anyone out there know that Andrew Brown who owns World Cat created a boat design in a 27', diesel powered cat in an HTS and SX model that has a serious design flaw? He built 9 of them.
I bought one of these lemons and have spoke to 5 other owners and they all say the same thing, this design sucks, lets salt water into the turbos, and as a result of the engine hatch design damage occurs to the engines, turbos, alternators, EVC boxes, gimble bearings etc... and these owners have been trying to get World Cat to step up to the plate and either fix the boats correctly and replace damaged components, or trade out the boats. So far Andrew Brown only wants to screw the owners of these boats by trying to suck more money out of them by trying to get them to pay full retail, and he does not take into consideration the huge expense they are already out on a boat that is not seaworthy, safe, and you can't keep running. Frankly I am disgusted with him and the World Cat company. Andrew offered to buy my boat back for what I paid for it( I thought it was a great deal) but he would not take into consideration I had to spend an additional $30,000 trying to fix the problems caused by his design. So he expected me to lose $30k in the first year I owned it and it wasn't my fault. He is completely unreasonable, and other owners have told me he has tried to pull the same crap on them. His other offer would have cost me $245,000 for a $160,000 boat. What?
I would like to warn anyone thinking of buying a World Cat that if they ever have a problem with a design flaw or manufacturing defect you are dealing with a company, and owner who will try and screw you over and they could care less that you have been through hell dealing with them and the problem, IN MY OPINION AND EXPERIENCE.
My advice? Andrew needs to go back to Princeton and take a few courses on the long term value of customer service, because he and World cat lack any meaningfull degree of customer service integrity. By the way, their hull warranty is an absolute joke!!! I would have an attorney review it because it covers so little it is not worth the purchase cost.
