World's best brownies.

What's yours?

Mine use Ghirardelli Double Chocolate Brownie mix. Substitute 1/3 cup burgundy for the 1/3 cup water then add a couple of cups of black walnuts or pecans, or one cup of each.

I kind of like the betty crocker brownies you just add water and microwave. Very good for out of the box!

Make the dark chocolate variety........ Then you can use the reason that Dark Chocolate is a great anti-oxidant ..... so eathing the brownies is healthy!!

I have added powdered coffee for an additional boost.

One package Ghirardelli Double Chocolate Premium Mix
1/3 cup water (substitute burgundy)
1/3 cup canola oil
1 egg

Then add 2 cups of nuts. I usually use Hideout pecans.

Spoon into 140 square inch (or about that) lightly greased pan and bake 45-50 minutes at 325*F. 45 for chewy, 50 for crunchy.

The recipe says 64 to 81 square inch pan, but with the nuts added they would be too thick. I prefer them about 1/2"-3/4" thick and more crunchy than chewy.

This is top secret stuff, Parrott, so if you tell anyone. . . well, you know about the grass and the mower?

Mea Culpa....

I was speed reading and did not pick up on the Ghirardelli being the name of a mix. I've never seen any mixes by them, just the Dutch method chocolate.

Is the reference to grass a hint that maybe some other things should be put in these brownies?d

We made browies one time in college. They tasted really bad. Then they tasted better. Then we sat on the couch for 5 hours ad-libbing mexican soap operas with the sound off until we could not laugh anymore.

The Grass I referred to was as in "Your butt will be grass and I will be the lawnmower" if you divulge my secrets of the world's greatest brownies.

ZmOz, I may be old and ugly but I aint stupid. Ruining great dark chocolate brownies with nasty controlled substances is not a wise move. Actually, ruining ones brain with nasty controlled substances is not a wise move.

Coming from someone who puts burgundy in the brownies and talks about smoking and drinking all the time.

Neither of those things will "ruin ones brain".

For healthier brownies, substitute applesauce for oil. My Mom used to sub with well-rinsed and minced sauerkraut too. Unexpectedly awesome.
