Re: Worlds Largest R/C Plane....
I just surfed a little, trying to get some info on this RC plane. There doesn't seem to be much, unless you want to watch a bunch of videos. What I did find out, is that it has a wingspan of 30 feet, weighs 463 pounds and has 4, 160cc engines.
Its a "one off" item, meaning that someone had to design and build it from scratch. Since the laws of aerodynamics apply to it in the same way as a full scale airplane, someone spent some time on this one. They also had to have a barn, or something similar, to build it in. I suppose the wings could be detachable, but if they are, there is further design and construction complication, in order to make that work.
I also ran across some info on an RC B51, with a 23 foot wingspan. It had 8, miniature jet engines and the same sort of realism involved. Unfortunately, it seems that the builder crashed it, the first time he flew it. The crash was described as "very realistic," because it end up being pretty much a smoking mess of rubble! Ouch!
At any rate, somehow I'm thinkin' that this one cost a bit more than five hundred bucks to build!
