Well my day is shot in the .... I had a C.T. scan last night to check for complication's from surgery that i had last week all looked good ...and then....Doc pulled me to the side as i was leaving and said

the radiologist called back and said he sees a couple of spots on my liver and that i need to get to my doctor asap to get it checked out. has any one been there, done that and walked away smiling

or is it not a good thing any time this happens?

I will be on the phone with my doctor in the morning to get the ball rolling ....just looking fr a bright spot right now

Re: worried

My dr did this when there was strange brain activity that showed up in a bone scan. Did ct and was inconclusive. That was 12 years ago still kicking.

Re: worried

When it has to do with the liver you want to see a specialist, not a practitioner. Where I live we have some of the best hospitals specialist just 36 miles away and I have been on this side of the grass seven years longer then they have predicted. If I had listened to the practitioner I would have been ferilizer in a short period of time.

If we were talking about my liver...I would be happy if all they found were spots...

Re: worried

Years ago I was getting a second opinion on some endocrine issues I have and the doc told me that he thought my blood was ferric (too much iron). I had to sweat out a week waiting to see the hematologist, all while reading on dying from too much iron in your blood and what a pain it is to manage your life to prolong the inevitable death.

Hematologist popped in the room and immediately told me I don't have ferric blood. The other doc was overreacting to some numbers in the count.

I've got a buddy down here who had a biopsy due to "spots" on his liver and it turned out to be nothing.

Don't borrow trouble you don't have yet.

Just keep in mind that there lots of things that can be wrong that arent that serious. Dont let your mind run away with you because it is easy to do for most people under these circumstances.

My mind never ran away with me and sometimes a 2nd opinon is best. And anyone who has insurance deserves the best, not a practitioner. I was point blank with my insurance after I was diagnosed and they had a practitioner call to see if I would go under there care and my answer was, that they were not qualified for my diagnoses.

Take care and I wish you well. :)

Ahmen--I had a liver biopsy for a fatty liver due to insulin issues. Wide awake in a ct scan--while they put 6 needles into your liver and pull plugs out (it looks like Salmon meat). If you are having issues with your liver see a gastro doctor and if he is concerned with the spots he will send you to the right place. Hope all is well.

Waiting is probably sometimes worse than the prognosis. Hang in.

Re: worried

Not to worry Jim. This could well be nothing more that a hepatic cyst or two, which are benign and fairly common. I went through this several years back. And oh yeah, it was "concerning". I had to wait two weeks just to go back and get it checked out, and then another week to find out it was nothing. But it's still anxiety that you can live without. Better days ahead soon. :)
