I wanted to clean my flame arrestor today but think I accidently broke it. I think it will still work with some gluing and also because of the screw holding it togheter but looking for upgrade but maybe with some better quality. Are flame arrestors the same for all carburetor engines?

However - Not sure what fits - I have a 3.0 TKI and looking into this one: https://www.amazon.com/Sierra-Inter...rcruiser+flame+arrestor&qid=1655401796&sr=8-2

Doesnt flame arrestor affect engine at idle? A better may improve that as cleaning for cloggingnwith current one is a mess.

The flame arrestor is simply meant to protect against backfires of the motor and ensure flames don't come out and/or come in contact with anything that could be bad news for the boat.

They can run rich if it is severely clogged as it can act as a choke, but nothing a little gas , scrubbing , and blowing out with compressed air cant fix

Isn't that all gonna hold together when you put it on the carb and screw it down?

I'd just replace it. That's a safety device that you do NOT want to fail. They are not expensive.

Agree - I will. But question is should I go with the orginal - quite pricery or is Sierra any good? I looking for a long-term quality solution of course but which minimizes clogging.

Maintenance takes care of clogging.

Original is better than Sierra.

Holley makes great spark arrestors

Regardless of what you do, if you buy a new/different flame arrestor make sure it fits properly over the carb and does not interfere with the motor cover/doghouse
