worth the effort?

I'm going to look at a 1998 Hawk super 2100 bass boat( don't know if it's the sc or dc) this weekend. No motor but on dual axle trailer. The P.O. is advertising a minor hull repair needs to be done ( and we all know how that goes!). It's being advertised as best offer. NADA says in rough condition it should still be worth 6K . The question is, is this boat even worth bringing back to life? Should I just go after the trailer and junk the rest?

You're going to have to get it for a lot less than 6K to justify the price - if you just want the trailer. My $.02

I don't know anything about bass boats but an 11 year old mass production boat without a motor ain't worth $6k.

Personally, I'd pass at that price. Sounds much too expensive for a nearly 12 y.o. boat with problems.

I am looking for a bass boat, and after restoring my thunderbird, doing repairs aren't so scary anymore. The trailer looks almost brand new. There is a point though when the cost of the repairs exceed the value of the boat.

NADA can be way, way off. Especially in this economy.

12 y/o boats most of the value is in the power plant, which that one does not have. without power, needing work. 2K at the most.

I would offer 1 K max, becuase you are going to have to spend at least another thousand on an engine, and then repair the hull. It all depends on how easy of a fix the hull is.

Good trailers are only worth about a grand or so.
