'87 3.0L Alpha one bowrider. Starts and runs smoothly, no sputtering nor missing, runs WOT @4000rpm, bout 40mph for 30-60 seconds, then it slows to 3200rpm despite throttle wide open. Decreasing throttle a little does not change rpm. Linkage seems stable. New spark plugs. Fuel lines are not kinked. New fuel filter/separator. Carb probably has not been rebuilt/cleaned in years, but she sure does purr except for the WOT issue. I must admit I have been afraid to check the stock fuel filter, since the brass fuel filter inlet nut has been rounded by pliers (by prev. owner). Gonna be difficult to pull a ski/wakeboard without WOT. Why would it run so well for up to a minute then it's like it has a governor?

Ayuh,... My guess is, she's goin' Lean from a lack of fuel flow...
Now might be the time to dig into yer known Issue, under that rounded off nut...
