hello all,
i have a 1976 55 horse erude,with a jet leg.
i have problems with wot
last time out the motor ran fine for an hour @wot
i ran out of fuel, filled it back up then took off and the rpms were perfect then dropped at least half.
i stopped pulled the motor cover and noticed the choke solenoid had spit the shaft out.the shaft has a spring on it so i put it back took off ran fine for 100 yards and lost rpms again.
i have been trying to diagnose this problem for awhile.
new fuel pump.new hose and primer bulb new fuel can,new impellar, new thermostat, new starter.when the motor runs it runs real well,no missing purrs like a kitten.
can anyone give me some more suggestions as i cant figure this out.

Re: wot problems

I'm going with dirty carbs from muck on the bottom of your tank.. for sure if your running an inboard tank?

Looks like carb rebuild time..

Re: wot problems

i forgot to add that when i changed the thermostat, the cylander cover required a new gasket i applied gasket sealing compound .after running for an hour i noticed a tiny leak so i tightened the bolts is it normal for the bolts to loosen a bit after you heat the motor up a bit.

Re: wot problems

From what you said, it read, you ran for an hour/ran out of gas/then starting having problems. Is that right?

I have to go will "fuel restiction"

Re: wot problems

from what i read, your problem comes and goes (after setting) check tank vent, fuel filter, and carb bowl/s. I had a simular problem and found a single flake in the carb, would run fine until the main jet sucked it up!
