WOT RPM calculation

Hello all.

This may be a silly question but here it is.

I am assumming to get the WOT RPM I need to get in the boat, open up the throttle all the way and see what is my highest RPM reading.

Now for the question. My boat fits 7 people. Do I load 7 people and do this test or do 2, 4 and 7 and then take an avg. Does the total weight will make the difference?

Thank you in advance.

Eugene.

Re: WOT RPM calculation

The wot rpm is where you get maximum rpm & speed. If trimmed further the rpm will increase and speed will drop. We try to get at or very near the maximum rpm you're looking for with an average load.

Sometimes that's with 2 people, xx gallons of fuel and empty livewells. Sometimes that's more people and a cooler and 1 or 2 livewells full and twice the fuel. Whatever your average load is.

If you prop for maximum rpm with 1 or 2 aboard you'll be ok for the occasional heavy load.If you prop for max with 7 aboard you will have to watch not to over rev with a light load.If you run with 7 often but not regularly you might get a prop specifically for those times. And change to it for those heavy loads.
