Got 1996 48spl back together and problem with cutting out at wot remains. This only happens at top rpm, and does not do it consistantly. It seems to only happen on initial ride from the trailer to where you go and not usually after that. Problem only happens if the rpm reach about 5600 and not all the time. This is what puzzles me???????

replaced so far
head gasket
spark advance lever
thermostat
lower unit seals
water pump

What do you think could cause this wot skip????

thanks
longshot

Re: WOT skip

I'm by no means one of the experts here, but your problem sounds fuel related. Sounds like there's air, or some restriction initially, then there's good flow later in your run.

Also, one thing I've noticed here to watch out for particular to your problem - you don't want to be at full throttle with your engine cutting out a lot. If it is fuel related and your engine is not getting fuel - then it probably is not getting lubricant, which is not good.

Jeff
