Would Buying a 1988 Glastron 2500 Be a Good Deal?

Been looking at this Glastron for $2500. New floor, carpet, upholstery, Chevy 350. Boat looks really clean but its a 1988. Thats pretty old for any vehicle. Would I just be getting into more problems due to the age? Is this a good deal for $2500?

I think so. I have an '87 18' bow rider that is in near show room condition. It's all about how it was taken care of and how good of a boat it was to start. You say it has a new floor. How is the trasom? Nice and solid? Does the outdrive move when you pull up on it?

Sounds fishy that they are selling a 25ft 10-yr old boat with brand new everything for $2,500. Would be a great deal, but it sounds like bull. The new engine alone would be worth $2,500.

A common thing among boat sellers is to replace the floor in order to cover up the more serious bad stringers, if you are serious about this boat I would pay the money to get the stringers checked before I put a dime into the purchase.

Some do it knowingly and others unknowingly either way you need to know if your thinking of making the boat yours....

I'd be willing to bet $2500 that if you pulled up that new "floor" you would find an old rotten "floor" underneath it... and saturated foam and rotten stringers underneath that, and the rotten stringers will go all the way back to the rotten transom.

We see quite a few of these "deals" here, but usually after some poor sucker has already bought the boat and is wondering why it takes on water when they use it.

That boat has just had a quick facelift done to it to make a quick sale.

My apologies, sir. I was referring to the thread title; a Glastron 2500. When I looked it up in the NADA guide, I did not find anything in 1988 over 23 feet. So, it is a 23ft boat, or a 17 ft boat?

You did not provide enough info for anyone to offer a meaningful recommendation.

You are asking about a model that does not appear to exist.

I assumed 2500 was the model number, which normally would indicate a 24-25ft boat. I did miss the year by a decade (oops), but still . . . in general, a 25ft boat with new upholstery, floor, and engine will normally draw at least $5K in my neck of the woods unless there are some major issues. If this is a 1988 18ft runabout, then $2500 may be close to ballpark but still a tad low, but we don't know due to the lack of a firm model number.
