I am getting ready to carpet my 14' boat. I am doing the floor and side walls. I bought indoor/outdoor carpet from Home Depot and have a 6700 indoor/outdoor carpet glue I also bought at Home Depot. I also have a can of spray adhesive. I believe the 6700 would work very well for this but I don't like the idea of having my carpet so permanently stuck to the floor. Also, the carpet was very cheap, so if I want to replace after a few years I am worried it would be an absolute mess to do so with the 6700 glue.
I was thinking about doing a couple of different things here. Please let me know what you think might be the best option.
1.) Use the 6700 just on the outside edges and in a couple places in the center. Use the spray adhesive for everywhere else. I'm not sure how the spray adhesive will react to getting wet with rain but I do think it will keep the carpet from sliding and coming up where the 6700 is not placed.
2.) Use 6700 for everything
3.) Use the spray for everything except the main edges or use for everything. Maybe buy a different spray that could be good for everything?
4.) Use 6700 for everything but apply extremely thin. Maybe thicker on edges.
Would you recommend a trowel for this or something like a putty knife? This would be in the case that I don't apply the 6700 on everywhere or I apply it very thin.
Thanks in advance.
