Would painting the underside of Pontoon deck extend its life?

I have a ?89 toon, and the floor appears sturdy (I can jump up and down with no sagging), I had just replaced all the seats in it (except for the helm, I did not want to mess with re-wiring.) The previous owner just glued new carpeting over the old, cutting around the helm- another reason I don?t want to replace it. Luckily he had removed all the other seats and carpeted under them, as I noticed the new seat are not as deep as the old.

So, looking under the deck, while its grey in color, it still looks OK, there are spots there the hole are that are looking in rough shape. I figured I could re-enforce those spots by screwing new plywood from the underside at those locations, and perhaps painting the entire bottom to help extend the life of the wood. Does this sound reasonable to do?

Thanks

Spray it with watered down bleach first. Otherwise mildew will eat the wood from bellow.
