What? You didn't raise the drive to power load and fill their boat with water?

I'm glad to say, I never run into situations like that.

That's what I was thinking. I kind of do this anyway because it lifts the bow and lets the boat go up the trailer easier. If someone ticked me off I might would lift it a little more. If they say anything I'll just tell them that the boat goes up the trailer easier that way.

I think I did accidentally get someone wet one time.

The ramp I use most you is put in at a bad angle and with the way the dock is and the way it is in the cove you don't have very much of a straight shot anyway.

As far as docking the boat, I don't use a ramp with more than 2 ramps and more than 1 dock, but to me, when you dock your boat it should be out of the way of the ramp so someone in line before you can use the ramp without your boat being in the way. And if one person is loading the boat while someone else gets the trailer, drop that person off and get the boat out of the way so other boats can use the dock and the ramp. If you're going to hand around the ramp for a while, move your boat well away from the dock people use while launching/retrieving their boats.

I don't see the big deal. The OP obviously had enough room to get his boat on the trailer. The other boaters were apparently inexperienced and somewhat apollogetic. I'd probably say nothing.

When I retrieve I always pull the boat up so its close to the ramp. This #1 allows room behind me for the next retriever and #2 keeps people from launching as I go to get the trailer.

When I launch I do the opposite. Put the boat in the water and pull it to the back of the dock. This allows another launch in front of my boat and keeps a retriever from pulling in behind me blocking my exit to the waterway.

Works well -- Kinda leaves no room for the less thoughtful to foul my day.

Yep! that's pretty much the way it happens here.
It keep the flow on the ramps moving.
One boat using the ramp, the other prepping for recovery or departure.
Can probably launch/recover 12-15 boats an hour.
Mixed use ramps are inefficient, if the next boat is doing the opposite operation, the first boat must clear the ramp.

No power loading, Pull the bow onto the trailer with a dock line, Hook up the strap, Crank it on!

Two ramps, One has Giant Arrows painted on it pointed uphill, the other side points at the water.
Even the Martians should be able to figure it out!

It seems like every Monday we have one (or more) of these types of thread. And I've found a few universal truths about them.

1. There are waaaaaaay too many opions on here to achieve consensus.
2. There are huge differences in local customs/norms.
3. Very little can be done to change someone else's opinion here.
4. There are giant (like monumental) differences in situation to compare to what "I" would have done. (boat size, ramp size, ramp type, body of water, climate, personalities)

There are people everywhere in everything that are uninformed, new, make mistakes, rude, nice, smart, experienced or just plain idiots.

How about we first try to educate without passing judgement-maybe his boat was sinking? Lost steering cable? Was new to the area or ramp? Then tell him how to use the courtesy dock or how far to back a trailer in or don't forget to trim up.

Then if he's a d!@K back to you....you have a different options. But it that's the case see #3 above.
