Hey Winger Ed... I thought that we old FMF docs were the grunts favorite squids. Now I'm sitting here with my feelings hurt.. sigh.

WE I had a little experiance in a 8 ft minimost I had gotten off the throttle because the water had gotten rough .. well it smoothed out in front of me I nailed it .. two small waves hit together right in front of me .. Like I said it was a 8 ft hydro. It was 7 ft 6 in up in the air. Had I shut the fuel down all the way it would have sunk transom first straight down. My dad was running right next to me in our Trihull and saw the whole thing. That little 110 Merc (9.8) pulled me out of a deep hole ! I am 42 now we built that hydro for my 16 th birthday . I still have both the engine and the hydro. BTW I have Marine buddys and I swear they have a extra vein running somewhere in their shorts ! BTW awsome hydro.. Humm maybe a wing somewhere?

Thanks. You gotta be careful in them little boats. They scare me, and I used to think I was fearless.

I know what you mean about them old Marines. I'm as normal as anybody, but some of my old Marine Corps buds are a little 'off', and bear watching.

I'd thought aobut building a winged, flying boat. When I was a kid, I saw a guy out on the lake with what looked like a pair of (modified)old P-51 Mustang drop tanks- with a big white Merc. on the back of each one. They were seperated by a piece of airplane wing with a airleone or trim tab on it's trailing edge. He sat in one tank, and I presume the fuel and batteries were in the other.

It was awsome to watch. He trimed the 'flap' as it came out of the water-- and it did fly, just the props were in the water.

I'd always wanted to build one like it, but all the details and finesse of making sure it wouldn't just get up to speed and flip over is a little over my head.

Favorite squids,,,,, Nah, They all look too much alike to tell the difference and pick favorites.

But somehow them crossed dolphins sort of stand out in a crowd, sort of like those little combat Aircrew Wings you see a few other wild eyed kids wearing.

However;
FMF Corpsmen are a different breed of cat.

Without going into a bunch of mushy details that would make ya all teary eyed,,,,

Doc, you're family.
And I never met another Marine that felt any diffent either........ Some for darn good reasons too.

Semper Fi, buddy.

Thanks for the kind words Winger Ed. Out of 21 years in the Navy I spent 14 with the Crotch so you can see where my heart is. I always considered myself as much a grunt as anyone.... Semper Fi !!
