Evinrude site shows 2 connection pump, what it connected to your 3 pump, should be a feed from the tank and the other to the carb by the looks of things.

model # of your motor. as you have something out of the ordinary. 187352 is the sierra equivilant of BRP 438556, which is what is called for on an 1987 28 spl/

Re: Wrong Fuel Pump 1987 28 spl

Can you tell me what part I need? I ordered the 18-7352 http://www.iboats.com/Fuel_Pump_Sierra/dm/*******.008845997--**********.502747053--view_id.174141 but it is different than the one on my motor.
My old pump has three hose nipples and the replacement has two. Normally two nipples are plenty but in this case I should probably go with three. Anybody know the part number?
I'm thinking it's the 18-7353.

What is connected to the "third" nipple currently ??

the difference in the pumps is pulse source.
some of the spl engines and some of the early two,3 and 4cyl engines used an external pulse line.
the two nipple pumps have a pulse hole in the body and are mounted on the pulse source.
the 3 nipple pumps can mount anywhere but have to have a pulse line. some external pulse lines used a backfire supressor in the line as well.
not to be confused with a pulse limiter.

What is the general consensus on returning an item to iboats? I started the process a couple of days. Submitted my order number and email to them on the website on Monday and I haven't heard back from them halfway through Wednesday...
