anyone have experience with them? Ive found a spare block and would like to rebuild it to keep as a bolt on spare for my guiding business. The motor is an early 80s johnson 75 hp.

Ive found two OEM pistons, but havent been able to locate a third new one.

The WSM are readily available. anyone have any experience?

They are all I use and only had 4 problems in 8 in years with them and they stood behind them. They are all I will use in V-6 and ficht motors due to piston pin migration.

Regarding factory pistons: You've evidently not contacted a local Bombardier dealer. Some of the part numbers have been superceded. These numbers are for an 81 70/75 hp block

standard size 5006751 out of production. There are two dealers in the US which have one each-new pistons, in dealer stock
.020 over 5006653 out of production There are two dealers in the US which have a total of 4 new pcs in their stock
030 over 387286 original stock part number: Bombardier has over 10 pcs in stock in their Beloit whse.

See any bombardier dealer to find the name of the dealers with stock, or to order any .030 over pistons.

yes, in standard size, i was able to locate two pistons. after pulling the head, the bore looks perfect, and the compression was actually good. I just like redoing the pistons/rings/wrist pin bearings and rod bearings before I run a new to me motor. Piece of mind, and then I know the history of said motor.

The WSM pistons are available in large quantities, and also half the price.

So, did you already purchase two factory pistons? If so, you only need to buy one more. It is permissible to re-use pistons if it's they are not damaged. Or, if one piston is damaged, it is ok to just replace that one-re-use the other two. When doing that, best to stick with an original factory piston for as the replacement. Not good to mix pistons of various mfr's in one block. Just be sure install new ringsets during the overhaul.

I'm stupid. What are WSM pistons ??

WSM is one of the larger aftermarket supplier of engine rebuild parts for outboard engines. Their piston are often repackaged by other suppliers such as OBR,Red Rhino,Mallory, and heard ProMarine . About 80% of engine kits on Ebay are theirs. I have had a account for years with them.
