I have aquired an old 59 orlando clipper 15 foot runabout. What a neat little boat.
It needs a new windshield. Anyone still have a mold for those? I have seen nearly identical windshields on other brands (feathercraft, alumacraft, lone star ect. )
The main problem now is it has a broken floor stringer just behind the front seats.
I am drilling out the old one now. I can make a new one if I have to .......
but I suspect it was an off-the-shelf aircraft stringer back then. It looks like
a boeing bac-1500 type stringer. 3/32 thick hat type stringer about 1+7/8 wide
across the outermost edges of the flanges. Probably needs to be 2024 heat treated
material. Some cargo trailers use something like that but I don't know if its heat treated. I think it is what is called "roll formed" stringer. ( not extruded)
Has anyone found a source for this stuff ?
I can make it on a form block or in the metal brake ...... if I have to ......
It is the same exact boat that coolguy in Orlando has ! I have serial number 105
I am thinking of constructing an aluminum channel transom insert to go in place of
the wood in there if the wood is not good. anyone done that ??????
