i noticed a couple of times my trolling motor mounted x65 act's up when i put it in the water it will read the bottom contour as well as any fish just fine or at least seems to. but the depth numbers flash zero off and on. then a few min later i look at it and it shows depth fine and works fine.

Re: x65 flashing depth

I do not know that specific unit but most Lowrance units I have seen if the depth flashes it means unit not reading the bottom and any thing on the screen should not be trusted.

When the unit flashed Zero are you still getting new reading on the right most pixels of the unit??

I would start by checking and cleaning the transducer connector that plugs into the unit. Also check your transducer cable, check closely in the areas of the cable that flexes when your raise and lower the unit. Also check closely the cable where it flexes when you turn the unit. It may just be a poor connection. Do you run your X65 on the same battery as your trolling motor?? If you do what is the voltage on the trolling motor battery when you have the problem. If it is below about 11 volts that is likely your problem.

You can also clean the power connector but do not use any thing metal unless you first remove the fuse.

Good Luck and report back what your find as it will help us all.
