XR2 popping out of gear

Hello to all,<br /> The motor is jumping out of gear or slipping then grabbing again. This is the second <br />time in two years. the first time the foot was rebuilt, now it's happened again plus there is not only some <br />metal in the gear case oil I have water leaking into the foot also! After I get the water problem<br />taken care of is it possible that I only need to make a shifting cable adjustment if there isn't <br />extreme damage to the gears.<br /> <br /> Boo<br />

Not sure about your particular motor but it sounds like at least your shift dogs are shot.Also<br />your seals must be bad if your leaking water.bearings could also be bad.Shift dog wear is normal. But be sure to service the lower end regularly.When shifting do it crisply and the rpms should be as low as possible.Shifting should be done at slowest speed conditions allow.<br /> Spike
