"Y" Pipe question

I am new to inboards and am having a blast re-modeling my 1982 Glastron Deck Boat. I replaced my Exhaust manifolds and risers because they looked BAD ! New here in town cost was 1200 but I found a great place up North and I kept it at 700.00. Ok now for my question. I put the motor back together tonight hit the key and it started right up. After running for maybe 10-20 seconds there was no water coming out the back. I shut it down and filled the hoses and where ever I could, hooked up the muffs and started it up again. Idles around 500 with no knock, vibrations or misses. I shut it down and heard water leaking into the bilge. It is coming from the back side of the motor and looks to be some where behind the oil filter. If freeze plugs are good and "Y" pipe is bad, can it still be run for further testing or will I damage something?

No water in oil.

Thanks for any advise

If it is just a freeze plug or y-pipe leaking you can run it for testing as long as you make sure it does not get hot. I would pressure test and make sure that is what is leaking and not a cracked block.

Ayuh,... If it's the Core plug, the block won't fill with water, so the Head will run Hot...
If it's the Y-pipe, other than the boatfillin' with water, go ahead 'n test away....
The motor has to come out to fix either issue though....
